Dr Suja Somanadhan

Dr Suja Somanadhan is a distinguished Associate Professor, Head of Subject in (Paediatric) Children’s Nursing, and Programme Director of Graduate  Diploma in Emergency Nursing (Children) at the School of Nursing Midwifery and Health Systems, University College Dublin, Ireland.  

With a wealth of expertise spanning over 20 years in paediatric healthcare settings, Dr. Somanadhan has made significant contributions to the field through clinical practice, leadership, management, academic teaching, and mentoring. Driven by a passion for translating evidence into practice, Dr Somanadhan’s work has profoundly impacted patient care and family-focused research.

In addition to academic excellence, Dr Somanadhan has been recognised with prestigious grants and career development awards, showcasing a dedication to advancing healthcare through innovative research projects such as COVISION, funded by HRB and SAMPI, Funded by Children’s Health Foundation.

As a Fulbright health impact scholar, Dr. Somanadhan has fostered critical and robust clinical and academic relationships with colleagues in the United States, particularly at the Children’s Hospital Pittsburgh and the National Institutes of Health. Dr Somanadhan has collaborated closely with leading experts, such as Prof. Shannon Scott and the team at the University of Alberta’s TREKK (Translating Emergency Knowledge for Kids) program, demonstrating a commitment to international collaboration and disseminating emergency medical knowledge for children.
